The
ankle sprains are
one of the most common injuries of athletes. Sprains are
injuries to the ligaments - tear or a strain - that normally appear
when you exercise with intensity, and in the case of the ankle, in this post we're going to give a few tips to avoid them.
- Make a proper training: on the one hand, exercising the muscles we can protect the ankle to future injuries, because it tightens the area you can avoid the joint damage in case of a fall or blow. On the other hand, using a training-type proprioceptive we will optimize the responsiveness of the ankle against twists, jumps, falls or imbalances.
- If we have already had a sprain, there is that to make a good recovery: after suffering an ankle sprain, we have a better chance of a repeat if we do not make a good recovery, and to do this I have to go to a doctor and a physical therapist for showing us the steps to follow. If you let the injury go to heal itself over time, the musculature is weakened.
- Eliminate the fear of relapse: When you suffer an injury, sometimes after we walked a different way with the aim of avoiding a relapse. Once we are healed from an injury, there is a need to mobilize in a standard way the affected area, as this will cause the body to respond to stimuli and prepare to respond to the risk of another injury.
- To maintain the balance between the two legs: keep the two ankles, just as trained, because if not, one becomes weak and increases the risk of injury.
- Use appropriate footwear: use of appropriate sneakers to the tread of each one does to reduce the risk of injury, since, on the contrary, we would be forcing our natural posture.
